Learning Outcomes is a simple explanation that lets students know what they will want to do toward finishing a given timeframe. 

   Concentrate on student products, works of art, or performance rather than instructional strategies or course content. These are measurable and often observable. 

   Learning outcomes guide your course design. These are the destinations on your course map. Once you know where you are going, other questions, “How will I know if the students go there?” and “What can I do to assist them in getting there?” become much easier to answer. 

They are official statements describing what students are expected to learn in a classroom or online course. In short, they say where you want students to go (how they get there is a matter for the next unit). If you think of your course map as an actual map – the result is your destination.

   Learning Outcomes Explanation: These are statements that specify what students will learn or what they will do due to the learning activity. They are usually expressed as knowledge, skills, and attitude. 

According to the University of Texas, Learning Outcomes have three distinguishing features. Students must have specific actions:

  1. Observable
  2. Measurable
  3. Done by the learners

For a learning outcome to be consistent, it must meet all these three criteria to perform those specified actions at the end of the learning activity.

Types of Learning Outcomes: There are five types of learning outcomes. We will discuss it here.

  • Intellectual skills    

With this type of Learning, the student will understand the concepts, rules, or methods. Simply put, it’s an understanding of how to do something.     

    2. Cognitive strategy

            As a result of this type of Learning, students use personal    

         Strategies for thinking, organizing, learning, and behaving.

    3. Verbal information

This type of Learning is when the student can say what he has learned from an organized knowledge.

    4. Motor skills

This section deals with determining the right time through physical ability to perform actions, gain fluidity, smoothing, or practice.

    5. Attitude

 It is the internal condition that is reflected in the student’s behavior. It is complex to measure, but the student’s reaction to the person or situation can be shown.

Learning outcomes vs. learning objectives:

What is the Difference:

On the contrary, learning outcomes are the answer to those questions. The purpose of learning objectives is to create and teach their course. 

These are specific, measurable expertise and talents that scholars will gain to take the course.

You will regularly find that learning results and learning destinations are utilized conversely. However, they are unique.

The following ideas and examples will show how learning objectives and outcomes are different for the same task yet connected.

Purpose vs. Consequences:

Learning Objectives: The teacher expects that the learning activity will be completed. It is looking to the future, what will happen.

Learning Outcomes:  It shows what has been achieved and happened due to students participating in activities.

Why Write Learning Outcomes?
Identifying the desired outcome of a learning experience is the first step in the design behind it.

  • Track their progress and find out where they stand.
  • Know beforehand of time how they may be assessed.

Elements of effective learning outcomes:

Written results at module and course levels are the basis for designing effective courses.

Compelling learning results are student-focused, quantifiable, significant, obtainable, and results-situated (task-oriented).

Assessment Tools for Mapping Learning Outcomes:

In educational institutions, results-oriented Learning is crucial in measuring how many teaching strategies affect students’ learning ability.

These changes in students are currently mapped by analyzing the purpose and outcome of the specific learning process. In collaboration with Teaching and Learning Technologies, the Learning Outcomes Assessment Office has developed two tools to facilitate learning outcomes assessment.

I can describe some of the tools’ here:

           Learning Catalytics: This program provides feedback to support student instruction during class. It allows teachers and students to review material outside the classroom.

           Questionmark: The agency provides several online tools for measuring and analyzing students’ knowledge and skills.

           Dojoit.com: You can use this software for collaboration. With that, you can make a seamless transition between the classroom and remote Learning.

Also, can do presentations, collaboration and keep track of what your students are doing and measure their learning outcome.

Conclusion:

Learning outcomes encourage teachers and students to think about holistic development rather than just learning theoretical concepts in the classroom. Learning outcomes help students increase their level of knowledge as well as develop skills.

Learning consequences aren’t constrained to direct consequences and software consequences and consequently permit college students to be lifelong learners.

It allows them to expand an out-of-the-container attitude and innovate something for the welfare of society.

The learning outcomes show how far students will go in their journey.
